Wheelchair Blanket

Picture
I started designing these wheelchair blankets out of necessity for my special needs daughter Carissa. She has spastic quadriplegia cerebral palsy and as a result her limbs are really tight, making it hard to put a jacket on her. In the winter she really needed to be covered up but the blankets kept falling off, sometimes getting under the wheel becoming filthy. I have designed several styles since then, all of them included some way to strap the blanket to the chair. depending on the style of the chair some have tied others have loops that go over the handles. After our move from Washington state to Michigan state I found she was in need of real warmth and she now has a waterproof Down Wheelchair Blanket that wraps under the feet of her chair to keep her warm in the snow.

These Blankets are totally custom designed from start to finish allowing for any other accomidations your child may need. The ones I have created in the past have ranged from simple lightweight fleece to what you see above a fleece blanket with a sheer layer on top with flower pedals in the middle. I have also made a quilted top, really the options are limitless once the pattern is complete we can discuss what options you think your child needs and the cost for those options.

I have decided to start selling these blankets.
  1. There will be a base price for measuring and making a base pattern. (This pattern can be altered once it is made to adjust for growth)This is a very custom Blanket requiring many measurements to be taken of the child in the wheelchair.
  2. Then there will be the cost of materials, if you want I can give you a list of how many yards you will need and you can purchase the fabric yourself.
  3. The cost of construction
